These terms are a legal agreement between you and App Bamboo Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom (company number 17481725, registered office 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, United Kingdom, IP28 7DE) ("Aravoca", "we", "us"). They apply to the website at aravoca.com, the web app at app.aravoca.com, and the Aravoca apps for iOS and Android (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data, and our Refund Policy explains when you can get your money back.
Aravoca is a learning tool and is open to learners of all ages. If you are under 18 (or the age of legal majority where you live), a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf, and is responsible for your use of the Service and for any purchases made on your account.
While you comply with these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own private, non-commercial learning. The Service is licensed, not sold.
The Service and everything in it — including the software, design, the frequency-ranked dictionary, example sentences, translations, audio recordings, reader annotations and the Aravoca name and logo — belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you.
Free plan. Part of the Service is available free of charge: at the date of these terms, the first 15 words without an account and the first 300 words with a free account. We decide what the free plan includes and may change it over time.
Paid plans. Paid plans, their prices and what they include are shown in the app or on the website at the time you buy. Prices may include or exclude taxes depending on where you are and how you pay.
Subscriptions renew automatically. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. You are charged at the start of each period through the payment method you used.
No free trials. Paid plans do not start with a free trial; the free plan is the way to try Aravoca before you pay. You are charged when you buy.
Cancelling. You can cancel a subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Deleting the app or your account does not by itself cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google.
Lifetime plan. A Lifetime purchase is a one-off payment that gives the purchasing account paid access for as long as we operate the Service. It is not a promise that the Service will be operated indefinitely.
Price changes. We may change prices. For subscriptions, a new price applies only from your next renewal, and we (or the app store) will give you notice beforehand so you can cancel if you do not agree.
Failed payments and chargebacks. If a payment fails, is reversed or is disputed, we may suspend or remove paid access until the matter is resolved.
To request a refund for a web purchase, email contact@appbamboo.com or use the contact page, and quote the email address on your account. When a refund is made, the paid access it relates to ends. The full details are in our Refund Policy. This does not affect your statutory rights: nothing in this section limits any refund or cancellation rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
Aravoca is a study aid. We work hard to make the content accurate, but vocabulary, translations, transliterations, vowelling, audio and annotations may contain errors or omissions, and frequency rankings and coverage statistics are estimates. Language learning depends on your own effort and circumstances, so we do not promise any particular outcome, level of fluency, or exam result.
Exam-preparation material is independent study support. It is not produced, endorsed or approved by any exam board, and you should always check the current specification with your school or exam board.
Readers of classical and religious texts are provided as language-learning aids only. Translations and notes are not authoritative religious, legal or scholarly rulings, and should not be relied on as such.
We are continually developing Aravoca. We may add, change or remove features and content, and the Service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates or events outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. If we ever decide to close the Service permanently, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
You can stop using the Service at any time and can ask us to delete your account through the contact page.
We may suspend or close your account, or limit your access, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we close your account because you broke these terms, you are not entitled to a refund except where the law requires one.
The Service relies on services provided by others (for example sign-in by Google and Apple, and payment by Apple, Google and Stripe) and may link to third-party websites. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations that are not expressly set out in these terms, whether express or implied — including implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows:
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Service or the law. The "last updated" date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and may cancel any subscription.
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Your licence is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent the law permits, Apple has no other warranty obligation in respect of the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
